15 days of Spiritual Visit to Arunachal Pradesh in Honour of Goton and Year of Compassion

His Eminence Kundeling Tatsak Rinpoche’s Visit to Arunachal Pradesh in Commemoration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th Birth Anniversary

Mon, Arunachal Pradesh – October 2025:

In commemoration of the 90th Birth Anniversary of His Holiness the Great 14th Dalai Lama and in observance of the Year of Compassion, the Tendhon Cultural Preservation Society of Mon and its associates respectfully invited His Eminence Kundeling Tatsak Rinpoche to grace the occasion as the principal spiritual guest. Responding to the invitation, His Eminence visited Mon District, Arunachal Pradesh, from 1st to 15th October 2025, as the official guest of the District Administration.

Upon his arrival, His Eminence was accorded a series of warm and heartfelt receptions by various governmental representatives, monastic communities, and the general public. His fifteen-day visit was marked by an inspiring series of spiritual teachings, empowerments, and cultural interactions across Tenzingang, Bomdila, Lumla, and Tawang, fostering compassion and harmony among the Himalayan Buddhist communities.

Journey and Ceremonies

His Eminence departed from Delhi on 1st October 2025 and was welcomed at Guwahati Airport by Venerable Lama Ngawang Norbu, President of the Tendhon Cultural Preservation Society, along with representatives of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. At Balemu—the border junction of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh—Rinpoche received a traditional welcome from local dignitaries and the Tenzingang Tibetan Settlement community before proceeding to Tenzingang Gyuto Monastery.

A traditional Mandala Offering and reception ceremony were held there in the presence of Shri Tsetan Chombay, MLA of Arunachal Pradesh, and local devotees. The following day, His Eminence conferred the Empowerment of the Wish-Fulfilling Wheel White Tara and delivered teachings on the Introduction to Buddhism.

Continuing his spiritual tour, Rinpoche traveled to Jang on 4th October, where he was welcomed by H.E. Jigmey Rabten Rinpoche and local leaders. On 5th October, at Palpung Jangchup Choekhor Ling Monastery, he conferred the Initiation of the Seven Medicinal Buddhas and addressed the gathering on the life and noble contributions of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Later that day, Rinpoche also attended the 1st Special Joint Conference organized by the Mon Youth Educational Forum and the International Tibetan College Students Association, encouraging youth to uphold compassion and moral values in the 21st century.

His Eminence continued his visit to Lumla, where he granted the Empowerment of the Wish-Fulfilling Wheel of White Tara at Bodong Tashi Choeling Monastery on 7th October and the Longevity Empowerment at Jampa Lhakhang on 8th October, attended by local leaders including MLA Ms. Tsering Lhamu. He also paid homage to the late Shri Jambey Tashi’s museum during the visit.

Teachings and Empowerments in Tawang

On 10th October, Rinpoche delivered a teaching on Guru Yoga: The Staircase to the Pure Land of Avalokiteshvara, a composition of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Subsequently, on 11th and 12th October, His Eminence bestowed the Initiations of Goddess Sarasvati and Je Tseyzinma at the Yiga Choezin Teaching Ground in Tawang. The event, organized by the Tendhon Cultural Preservation Society of Mon, was attended by monks, nuns, local officials, and a large gathering of devotees, concluding with a Long-Life Prayer Offering dedicated to Rinpoche.

At the request of the monastic community, His Eminence conferred the Initiation of Noble Manjushri and Arya Tara at Jangchup Choeling and Thukje Choeling Nunneries on 13th October, followed by an extensive teaching at Gaden Namgyal Lhatse Monastery on 14th October, emphasizing the importance of integrating study and practice in modern times.

Goton Celebration and Conclusion

On 14th October 2025, His Eminence presided as Chief Guest at the Goton Celebration held in honor of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s 90th Birthday at the New Phodrang of His Holiness in Mon. The event, organized by the Tendhon Cultural Preservation Society of Mon and local associations, witnessed an inspiring address by His Eminence, who extolled the compassionate activities of His Holiness’s body, speech, and mind, urging everyone to uphold his timeless legacy.

Concluding his spiritual journey, Rinpoche met with Shri Kiren Rijiju, Honourable Union Cabinet Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, in Guwahati on 16th October 2025, before returning to Delhi.

Throughout his visit, His Eminence also paid homage to several sacred and historical sites, including Khebug Tse Mani, Gorsam Stupa, Taktsang, and Gyangkar Monastery—the birthplace of the Sixth Dalai Lama Tsangyang Gyatso—as well as the Major Ralengnao “Bob” Khathing Museum of Valour-Tawang and the Dorjee Khandu Memorial Museum, offering blessings and prayers for peace and prosperity in the region.

A Journey of Compassion and Wisdom

His Eminence Kundeling Tatsak Rinpoche’s visit was deeply inspiring and spiritually enriching for the people of Mon and Tawang. His teachings and empowerments served as a gentle reminder of the boundless compassion and wisdom embodied by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, inspiring devotees to live with greater purpose, unity, and compassion in everyday life.
